In the FFRMS Elevation Project, I was responsible for preparing accurate terrain mosaics by working with multi-resolution DEMs (1m, 3m, 10m) sourced from USGS and various state GIS portals. I demonstrated proficiency in bulk data acquisition and management, using tools like uGet for batch downloads and 7-Zip for efficient data extraction. My role involved organizing large datasets by state and county boundaries, followed by thorough metadata review to ensure complete and high-quality data coverage.
I led the DEM mosaicking and processing efforts for a multi-company collaboration involving AECOM, Fugro, and other geospatial partners. As the primary contributor from Fugro, I processed the highest number of counties, took initiative in training coworkers to meet both production speed and quality standards, and played a key role in helping our team deliver results ahead of all other teams. This effort earned me company-wide recognition and a performance bonus.
Using ArcGIS Pro and WISE Pro tools, I mosaicked raster tiles with proper projection setups (UTM and NAVD88), handled unit conversions (meters to feet), and built ground mosaics tailored for FEMA floodplain mapping deliverables. I applied advanced skills in raster processing, spatial referencing, and AOI generation, and addressed technical challenges like incomplete coverage, blank tiles, and elevation inconsistencies.
Additionally, I generated raster domains, exported mosaic footprints, performed clip operations, and completed detailed attribute editing using accurate FIPS codes and AOI metadata. My commitment to workflow optimization, quality control, and data integrity was critical in supporting the delivery of precise, production-ready elevation data for FEMA’s national mapping initiatives.
Mosaicked DEM Output – The circled areas highlight missing data (holes) in the raw DEM tiles. These gaps were identified during QA and addressed using raster analysis, the Fill tool, and interpolation techniques in ArcGIS Pro to ensure a seamless and accurate mosaic.
